Biography

Prior to joining the EdPartnerships team, Larissa was Curriculum Project Leader at Caulfield Grammar school and Head of Teaching and Learning in 2006-07. She has extensive experience supporting and encouraging teachers in designing and trialling new forms of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.

Since 2007, Larissa has worked in the area of numeracy intervention and has supported leadership teams in primary schools to establish whole school 3-5 year mathematics Strategic plans.

Her leadership in this area has included

  • Mentoring graduate teachers, leading teachers and teams
  • Assisting teachers in using an ‘Evidence Inquiry Process’ to ascertain what students know and need to know.
  • Supporting teams in exploring and understanding the purposes of a variety of assessment tools and the pedagogy behind them.
  • Interpreting and analysing data and knowing how to utilise this to enhance student learning (professional learning conversations)
  • Identification of what constitutes sound evidence and what does not – and how to check assumptions.

She has worked closely with various experts in the field to assist schools in understanding pedagogical content knowledge and led school based innovations to meet the needs of gifted mathematicians. This has involved establishing mentoring links between primary and secondary math students and teachers.
